Industry Insiiide: Houseology… The Study of UK House and the Power of Community

From starting out at 20 years old to throwing 5,000-person warehouse raves, Lennon Williams is on a mission to ensure house music completely takes over the Perth dance scene.
Lennon Williams has been DJing for around eight years and running events in the Perth scene for the past five, having kickstarted his journey as a promoter at just 20 years old.
The brand’s name, Houseology, was heavily inspired by Dombresky’s track of the same name. Because “-ology” means the study of something, they associated it with the dedicated study of house music, and the rest was history. Today, the brand is laser-focused on bringing the authentic UK house scene directly to Western Australia.
We sat down with Lennon to discuss the importance of community building, the strict reality of Perth licensing, and the 5,000-person warehouse rave that shifted the landscape for the brand.

🤝 Community Above All
For Lennon, the absolute best part of the job has nothing to do with ticket sales. “I love bringing people together and seeing the smiles on their faces as they’re dancing, laughing and just enjoying life,” he shares. “In a world of uncertainty, stress and other negative things, it’s always so beautiful to see people coming together and celebrating over the mutual passion for music & good times”.
That community-centric approach is his primary digital strategy. He advises that promoters must listen to what their community wants and make it all about them, because they are the ones buying the tickets and helping the brand reach the next level. In fact, if he could go back in time, his biggest piece of advice to himself would be to focus on building that community and social media following as fast as possible to get a head start.

🚧 The Hustle and The Headaches
Scaling an event brand comes with strict learning curves. Lennon learned a tough operational lesson early on about “going big too soon,” noting that in the event space, it’s definitely better to take things step by step.
Another major operational friction point is the city itself, with Lennon pointing out how incredibly strict Perth is regarding licensing for areas to host parties. And once the party is actually running? There’s nothing that kills the vibe faster for him than an empty room or a DJ that simply doesn’t know how to read a crowd.

📈 The Big Payoff & What’s Next
Taking that patient, step-by-step approach eventually led to a massive milestone. When asked about the moment everything finally “clicked” for Houseology, Lennon points to their massive 5,000-person event at the Ice Cream Factory, featuring Gorgon City and a stacked lineup of other acts.
Looking ahead to the next 12 months, he confidently predicts that house music will completely take over the Perth dance scene. Houseology is keeping that momentum going immediately with a massive show this weekend at Port Beach Brewery featuring Marsolo, Rich Nxt, and Rossko, followed by weekly Saturday events at the Houseology club featuring names like Tommy Philips and Hidde van Wee.
