5 Years Red Earth: Town Hall Takeover!

Ring the Alarm and tell the people - the Red Earth Dub Circus is turning five! Hard to believe it has been five years already. What began as a wild idea in the red dust of Jilakin Rock City has grown into Western Australia’s first homegrown reggae and dub sound system, a crew of artists, builders, selectors and performers, and a community that has carried Red Earth far beyond anything we imagined. THIS Saturday 12 September, we’re bringing it all home for one proper birthday dance: a full Red Earth Town Hall Takeover in the heart of Walyalup/Fremantle. The Red Earth Sound System will be stretching its legs inside Town Hall, carrying us from foundation reggae and cheeky dancehall throwbacks through deep dub and steppers, before Red Earth meets Traction Sound for a Dub 2 Jungle B2B rinse-out. Longtime friends will be joining us behind the decks, Circus Mischief will be moving through the hall and the centre of Freo will glow red, gold and green for the night. FIVE YEARS DEEP From early warehouse sessions and beach gatherings to festival fields, packed Freo Dub Club dancefloors, hosting some of our favourite artists and spreading our roots into the South West - it has been one hell of a ride! But Red Earth has never only been about the events. It is a living, evolving arts and culture project where music, performance, custom sound system craft, DIY production and community participation meet. At the core, it has always been about the people. Whether you joined us in the first warehouse, found us in a festival field, stepped onto a Freo Dub Club dancefloor or are entering the ring for the first time, we would love to celebrate with you.
