GLOBAL ECHOES & MAHICO PRESENTS: RODRIGO GALLARDO (CHILE) Global Echoes is back. Created as a deep dive into underground sound cultures from around the world, Global Echoes explores the places where traditional rhythms, cultural roots and contemporary electronic music meet. Five years deep, we’re bringing back one of our favourite Red Earth event series - and this time, we’re joining forces for the first time with Byron Bay’s Mahico Festival. Together, we’re taking over Freo.Social with one of Latin America’s most celebrated folktronica artists: Rodrigo Gallardo. 🎶 RODRIGO GALLARDO (CHILE) A Chilean composer, multi-instrumentalist and former co-founder of the pioneering electronic folk project Matanza, Rodrigo Gallardo has become a leading voice in the meeting of folklore and electronic music. His captivating live performances blend charango, Andean flutes, guitars and vocals with deep electronic rhythms, creating an immersive journey through ancestral traditions and contemporary sound. His career has taken him to respected gatherings around the world, including Fusion Festival in Germany, Envision in Costa Rica, Dreamersland in Poland and Amanita in Argentina, with his work also featured by Cercle. For Mahico, this is a long-awaited reunion. Rodrigo returns after a memorable live performance with them three years ago - now brought across the country for his first Global Echoes appearance in Walyalup. 🌱 GLOBAL ECHOES From the vibrant rhythms of the Andes to the soulful beats of the Savanna and beyond - from cumbia and folktronica to trip hop and Afro-futurism - Global Echoes celebrates underground music cultures and the artists carrying them into new territory.
